I know I have not been around a lot recently

Or at all, actually. Things have been crazy. I just started yet another new job, and it’s for UPS, so things are about to get really crazy, I’ma ‘bout to be working about 35 hours of overtime this month. Which is good for my wallet, but not so much for my Tumblr. So I’m sorry to you, Tumblr, for neglecting you. But I will be back in full force, hopefully sometime around Christmas.

As for how I’ve been doing, things have been okay. We’re making it through. We have a nice little apartment and we’re slowly filling it with furniture and crap and I really feel like I might be able to create some permanent stability for myself. That’s all I’m really searching for. I think we’ve found it, here. I think Tucson is going to be good for me— I think it’s going to be the place where I finally find my sure footing as a somewhat normal adult.

It’s going to be another slow climb, and I have to remember that it always takes longer than you think, that there’s always unforeseen circumstances that will set you back, even in the best of times. I have to remain patient. That is the hardest part of this all, I think. You want everything to be back to “normal” and for you to have all the trimmings that go along with not being a junky anymore— possessions, having a social life, not being broke, etc. But it always takes forever. And that’s what has tripped me up in the recent past, so I’m attempting to reiterate this to myself to make it clear that I can’t expect everything to be rosy right away.

I seem to be endlessly saying this to myself, so it’s obviously taking a while to sink in. Once things start getting back to normal, it’s incredibly hard for me to resist the itch, the urge to rip it all to shreds again. This time though, I think I’m actually going to be okay.

Arizona Republican Party auctions Glock

standing-6four:

In Arizona, the Pima County G.O.P. plans to raffle off a Glock 23 .40 caliber handgun. That’s the same brand that was used by Jared Loughner to kill six people and wound 13 others, including Representative Gabrielle Giffords last January.

Update on Nick Hundley

mysdpadres:

Nick Hundley (oblique) will catch 6 innings tonight in Tucson. He will also DH while there. Could return Tuesday or Wednesday.

Gonna be there tonight at Kino Stadium to watch Hundles begin to make his long-awaited comeback. Ready for you to be back with the Big Pads, but sure happy to have you down here in Tucson, Nick!

Also I am super psyched to get what will most likely be my last live look at Anthony Rizzo before the Big Pads call him up and put Brad Hawpe in right field.

GO PADRES! GO T-PADS!

My first Minor League game.

So I recently moved to Tucson from SD, and yesterday was my b-day, and so for my b-day I treated myself to my first ever Minor League baseball game experience.

First of all, I was really impressed by the whole experience at Kino stadium. I was talking to some local Tucsonians (Tucsonites?) and apparently they had another team here, the Toro’s, I guess they’re an Independent team, and they played at Hi Corbett field which is closer to downtown and also in a park, and SUPPOSEDLY it has a much better “feel” but PERSONALLY I was impressed by the field and the atmosphere in general.

To pay $21 for two tickets right behind the plate was awesome, the whole night including beer and food came out to under $50 for two people, and to me that’s a much better way to spend $50 than at a bar or dinner and a movie, and for the most part my girlfriend agrees, so that’s pretty rad.

The game was also really good. I was really impressed by Guzman and Hunter, Rizzo had kind of a bad night but he did knock in the two runs that cemented a T-Pads victory over the Albuquerque Isotopes, who are the Dodgers’ triple A affiliate in case you’re not in the know. Furcal was there for the ‘topes on a rehab assignment, and I was glad to be able to boo at the sucker, especially when he booted a simple ground ball out.

What I was not impressed by was the bullpen. Maybe all of our bullpen talent is in the big leagues, but boy, did our guys try to give the game away. Deduno and Neshek were simply terrible, Neshek especially could not throw a strike to save his life. Seems like we could have burned the $ we gave him and got more value out of it.  I was slightly more impressed by Luis Perdomo, who came in and protected the one run lead in the 8th and closed out the game in the 9th to earn the save.

Anyway I’m rambling I guess and I don’t know enough about the minor league guys to know how hot of a prospect most of them are, but what I do know is that I enjoyed the experience enough to ensure at least a few more return visits to Kino stadium. It also inspired me to learn more about all of our affiliates and our prospects.

Oh, the only other thing I was not impressed by was the fools in the next section over from me— their heckling was unimaginative and repetitive. I’m all for a few choice words aimed at the opposing team, but seriously, STFU once you’ve got too many beers in you to heckle coherently.

Okay I’m done.

God damn

I did not think it would be this hard to find a little herb for my bday.

I guess tucson sucks my cock.

Anyway I just drank a pitcher of margaritas and now I’m gonna go catch a baseball game. Hot dogs and cheap beer wooooooooooooooooooooo
