First of all, thanks to everyone who has tried to at least fill roster holes and put injured players on the DL and has done their best to stay up to date with the haps. I know it’s hard for me to check my team on my android every day, and i get to sit down and really ruminate for a while like this maybe 4 times in the season.
But again, thanks to all the folks who turned out and stayed interested. I was a little nervous when I first joined because I thought it was gonna be mostly players who were there to fill a team spot and who haven’t looked at their team or their scores since they signed up. But that’s not the way it happened at all, and half way through I can say I’ve had a good lesson on the differences what you look for in a real player and what you look for to fill a spot on your roster. I’ve also had a bunch of fun failing miserably at my attempts to de-throne Will or Jay.
tl;dr: tumblr FB has been fun.
NOW ON TO THE IMPORTANT PART
For me, as the real deadline approaches, so does mine. the dog days of summer are always the proving grounds of countless players, especially when it comes to the raw numbers that they are producing; tangentially, i would love to be in a league that counts errors or FP% or some sort of fielding metric.
a litsticle about questions we all have about the 2nd half and how it relates to fantasy:
- A dominating rookie pitcher: will they limit their innings? Will the greenhorn be able to out-duel major league bats after those batsmen have had a chance to see him pitch a little more. In my case, Pineda is going to work a whole season and I just could not be happier about that :D
- Buy/Sell opitions on the “rejuvenated” veteran starter who throws CY class stuff for the first 4 months, but whose past injury record and age makes them a big risk for the 2nd half (cough, colon, cough). Miracles like that don’t happen very often, but you can bet I’m hangin on to Freddy Garcia until he runs out of steam himself.
- Those high-drafter power batters that have struggled after returning from injury, and the healthy, top tier sluggers that had inexcusable first halves. These guy may or may not be heating up, depending on who you listen to. are you willing to take a risk on them? is the plus power and RBI creation he would provide enough to sacrifice a consistent guy who hits for average and picks up a few stolen bases as well?
- The wave of recently promoted rookies, specifically from KC, SD, and the A’s. the good ones have already been snapped up, but is it worth buying high on someone who is relatively untested?

There are many more, but that’s what i’ve been pondering. feel free to ask for advice as well. A level playing field is all I’m looking for
You may have noticed that I’ve been on a trade rampage— I’m just trying to get the trade market going a little bit, I’d love to get some trade offers myself. Any player on my team is open for trading, just name your price.
you can hit me up in my ask hole, on the espn site itself, or on gmail @blahdu :D
END: tl;dr tumblr fantasy baseball RULES
